The Dodge Ram

Although it is better known for its HEMI engine, the Dodge Ram performance is something that should not be overlooked. The Ram is easy to handle, but a lot of attention gets diverted from it performance because it its state-of-the-art air bag suspension system. On the other hand, it is this same suspension system that also helps to make the handling easier.

The latest model of the Ram is available in three engine types, namely the V6, V8 and the HEMI. The 3.7L V8 engine offers a210 horsepower and around 235 pound feet of torque. The V8 engine is 4.7 liters and offers 310 horsepower performance with 330 pound feet of torque. The HEMI is 5.7 liters giving 390 horsepower and has a torque of 407 pound feet.

The HEMI has a system to stop four cylinders in the engine from working when they are not needed. This helps to improve fuel efficiency to a certain extent. The HEMI 5.7 liter engine gives around 14 miles per gallon on the city roads and 20 miles per gallon on the highways provided you use the two-wheel drive. This mileage is the same as what you would get from V8 engine.

The V6 engine comes with 4-speed automatic transmission, while the V8 comes with 5-speed automatic transmission. If the Dodge Ram has 6-speed transmission, it would increase the vehicle's fuel efficiency as well towing capabilities.

When it comes to towing capabilities and payload, the latest model of Dodge Ram can tow around 10,450 pounds and haul a maximum of 1,910 pounds without affecting it performance whatsoever.
